Dr. Milen Antonov Boykov
Dr. Milen Boykov is an experienced Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon, Specialty General Surgeon, and Surgical Oncologist who graduated from Medical University Pleven in Bulgaria (EU).
In 1995 Dr. Boykov started his career as a surgical oncologist at the University Oncology Centre in Pleven and in 2001 he graduated as a specialist in General Surgery and in 2004 acquired a second degree in Oncology. In 2006 during his work contract with Military Hospital-Pleven, he took a place in a military mission in Afghanistan, as a doctor, a member of the Bulgarian Military surgical team / team leader of the surgical team.
Then he worked at Tokuda Hospital in Sofia where he was seeing planned patients for one-day, minimally invasive surgical interventions (discharged on the same day of surgery) and for the treatment of patients with benign and malignant breast diseases.
Dr Boykov has been working in the UK since 2010 and currently works in the NHS as a Consultant Breast Oncoplastic Surgeon and a highly qualified specialist Consultant General Surgeon. He also works privately in London.
Dr. Boykov has numerous specializations in the modern surgical treatment of diseases of the mammary gland and gastrointestinal tract in leading surgical clinics in Bulgaria and Great Britain, as well as numerous participations in international conferences and congresses. He has published materials in the Bulgarian and international medical press and participated in a large number of scientific forums in Bulgaria and abroad.
Areas of expertise
His specific scientific and practical interests are related to the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases, endocrine system diseases, oncology, aesthetic plastic surgery, incl. mini-invasive, and reconstructive breast surgery – an oncoplastic approach to breast cancer surgery with immediate breast reconstruction after mastectomy, use of sentinel lymph node biopsy technique, IORT( intraoperative radiotherapy), family history breast cancer risks, genetic assessment, and advice, breast contour re-sculpturing including breast reduction, augmentation, and remodeling (fat tissue transfers).
Dr. Boykov`s professional interest is in applying the minimally invasive/ laparoscopic methods for the treatment in elective surgical cases, emergency surgery cases, and diagnostic sonography (ultrasonography).
